Club facilities

The club and boathouse

The club is on Lower Mall, the footpath on the north bank of the Thames west (upstream) of Hammersmith Bridge. It is a great location with beautiful views of the river and Hammersmith Bridge and we are just a few minutes walk away from the tube. We have our own boathouse with racks for club and private boats and our own pontoon opposite the club for easy launching and retrieving of boats. Our facilities include a fleet of boats that covers all variants, a large club room with a licensed bar, an erg room, a free weights room and changing facilities.

Our boats

The club owns a wide selection of boats for members to use and to suit everyone from beginners to more experienced oarsmen and women. For scullers we have singles, doubles and quads, and for rowers we have pairs, fours and eights. Each boat is designed for a specific weight of crew and our boats are graded to determine their use. A one star grading is a boat available for unrestricted use by all members, two star boats are restricted to regional regatta use and three star boats are restricted to use by experienced members competing at top level regattas. The boat list showing the boats in service, their design weight and grading is kept in the boathouse on the wall above the signing out log.

Private racking

Private racking for boats (mainly sculls) is available through a waiting list system. To enquire about racking facilities, please contact Bob Drakeford, Memberships Secretary.

Club room / Venue hire

The Furnivall club room is a great place to hangout and relax. Located on the first floor above the boathouse, the club room is south facing with a balcony and magnificent views of the river Thames and Hammersmith Bridge. The room is very spacious, holding around 60 people standing and 30 seating informally and includes a comfy sofa area, a large table handy for dinners and meetings and plenty of floor space and a fully licensed bar.

Gym facilities

We have an erg room with five Concept II ergometers and a Row Perfect. We also have a free weights room with a large range of free weights and olympic bars.

Every Thursday at 20:30 you can join a Pilates class in the club room which is specifically tailored for rowers. To find out more email information@furnivall.org. Please also use this email address to say that you will be joining a class (always best to do this in case a session is cancelled).

Changing facilities

We have separate male and female changing rooms with hot showers.

Kayaking

If you fancy giving Kayaking a try, Furnivall is also host to Hammersmith Blades who run regular kayaking social paddles on weekends or after work from Spring until Autumn.
