Fours Head weekend review

Wednesday, 5th November 2014

Last Saturday and Sunday morning the fours and the quads took over the Tideway!

On Saturday at the Fours Head of the River Race Furnivall had two crews racing. Anthony coxed Dan, Brian, Olly and Rod in the men's IM2 coxed fours category, whilst Andy did the same for Sarah, Jenny, Fiona and Kirsty in the women's IM2 coxed fours. The girls came in in a time of 22:26, finishing in position 17 out of 29 in their category. The boys suffered at the hands of an oncoming wayward quad and were forced to stop for a significant period of time and were therefore disappointed to finish in a time of 21:57. Photos of both crews can be found in the Gallery.

On Sunday we had the Veterans' Fours Head, with Chris, Brian, Iain, Rod and cox Jennifer racing at IM3. Despite an absolute downpour all morning, the boys had a fantastic row, finishing in 2nd place out of 6 in their category.

We were also very pleased that visiting crews from Cambridge 99s and Bridgnorth joined us in the FSC clubroom after Sunday's race, to warm up over soup, toasties, hot chocolate and perhaps a beer or two.
