Furnivall girls win their novice pots!

Monday, 25th April 2016

We're very proud that 8 of our girls cast off their novice statuses yesterday with a fantastic win at Hammersmith Amateur Regatta. Months of winter training finally paid off with a comprehensive victory over St. George's Hospital BC in the final.

On the way to claiming their pots, our girls had a comfortable victory over neighbours Auriol Kensington in the first round. That was followed mid-afternoon by a tough battle with a very solid Thames A crew in the semis. Not only did the opposition put up a good fight but so did the Tideway, which was in classic "wind vs tide" fractious state.

Lenne in the 5 seat, who learnt to row with Furnivall on our 2014 course, said that the closely fought side-by-side race with Thames was "extremely exciting to be a part of".

A full report with "views from the crew" to follow, but for now here are some photos from the Gallery and those results in full:

  • First round: Furnivall beat Auriol Kensington. Verdict: 5 lengths
  • Semi-final: Furnivall beat Thames A. Verdict: 0.5 lengths
  • Final: Furnivall beat St. George's Hospital BC. Verdict: 5 lengths
