Results from Reading Amateur and Barnes & Mortlake

Monday, 15th June 2015

At Reading Amateur Regatta on Saturday 13 June, our women's IM2 coxed four of Emma, Fiona, Jenny, Jess H and Meri put in a great performance in their run-up to Henley Women's Regatta. The eased past Southampton University in the first round, winning by 1.5 lengths. Their second round race was just a couple of hours later against strong opposition who had fresh-legs. Our girls pushed hard but just lost out by a length. The result puts our girls in a great position going into HWR.

Over at Chiswick on the same day we had Barnes and Mortlake Regatta, with four crews racing. Sol and Angelo on first in the novice double sculls but came up against tough schoolboy oppo in the first round. Nik in the IM3 single sculls also didn't quite manage to make it into the final but no doubt did us proud!

Moira and Hege were racing in the novice double sculls and made it not just past the first round but also through the semis and into the final! Alas the final was a tough one but we have every confidence they'll get that novice pot soon!

Mike returns home victorious!

The star of the day was club captain Mike who was racing in the novice single sculls, yet again in his so-far elusive hunt for his novice scullng pot. He had a battle in the first round but crossed the line in front of the sculler from TSS. In his semi, he saw-off another very strong competitor from Thames Tradesmen. In the final it was FSC vs. Barn Elms. Despite a tricky start for our Mike he fought hard and crossed the line comfortably ahead of our Barnes neighbours. Well done Mike!
