Mike in the 2014 race

The single sculler is a particularly hardy member of the Tideway rowing community, potentially spending hours bouncing around in launch wash for that one perfect stroke. However, this Saturday they go to the further reaches of crazy by racing over the Championship Course for the Scullers' Head.

With a course 2 km longer than the Pairs Head, which has the benefit of having a buddy to share the fun/pain with, one has to consider why someone would partake in such a race. However for anyone who sculls on the Tideway, the opportunity to have a wash-free clear run from Mortlake to Putney might just be worth it.

Whatever their reasons we wish our four (yes four!) scullers the very best of luck this weekend! The race starts at 13:30 at Mortlake. Here are the details for our scullers:

  • #63 Mike (IM3)
  • #219 Tim (MasB)
  • #429 Meri (W.IM3)
  • #453 Jess (W.Nov)

Please do come down to the club to give them a cheer. It will be hugely appreciated! Mike should go past just before 2pm, with Tim not long after 2:15pm and Meri & Jess at around 3pm.
