Victory at Peterborough Summer Regatta

The victorious women's novice 4+

The women's and men's squads travelled en masse to Peterborough for a weekend of racing at the Summer Regatta on 9 and 10 August.

After initial drama on the Friday evening due to "borrowing" of our trailer, the guys and girls put in some great performances. Particularly the women's novice 4+ who won their event, following a dead-heat with Leeds RC and a subsequent dramatic re-row.

  • Men's IM3 4+ (Dan, Rod, Olly, Mike. Cox: Scot).
  • Men's novice 4+ (Chris, Ian, Nat, Quentin. Cox: Ben)
  • Women's 8+ (Andy, Jess H, Jen B, Erika, Vic, Jo, Sue, Steph. Cox: Ben).
  • Women's novice 4+ (Jess H, Lucy, Vic, Erika. Cox: Ben)
  • Women's IM3 & IM2 2x (Jenny, Fiona)
  • Women's novice 1x (Meri)

Results from Saturday:

  • Women's 8+: third in the final.
  • Men's IM3 4+: comfortably won their heat and then an agonising 0.2 seconds off a pot in the final.
  • Women's novice 4+: won their heat by 4 lengths, second in the final.
  • Men's novice 4+: second in the heat (only 0.4 seconds off first place) and fourth in the final.
  • Women's 2x: third in the IM2 final; second in the IM3 heat (by only 0.1 seconds!), comfortably won their repechage, second in the final.
  • Women's 1x: second in the heat and the repechage and fourth in the final.

Results from Sunday:

  • Women's novice 4+: won their heat and then had a dramatic dead-heat with Leeds RC in the final. FSC won following a head-to-head re-row.
  • Men's novice 4+: second in the final.
  • Women's 2x: third in their IM2 heat. Won their IM3 heat and then second in the final.
  • Women's 1x: second in the heat and fourth in the repechage.
