Women's squad training camp

Thursday, 1st May 2014

The women's squad were having fun on a beautiful stretch of the Upper Thames from 12 to 15 April, on their Spring training camp. As in 2013, they were kindly hosted by Pangbourne College.

A variety of boats were loaded onto the trailer the night before the camp, from VIIIs down to numerous singles. The vast majority of the squad were able to attend - 19 in total - and it was great to see those who are recovering from injury able to get back out on the water.

Ben, Lucy, Fiona, Meri P, Sarah The IVs who are preparing to race this season were able to get a lot of technical training done, together with some side-by-side race pieces. There was also the chance to give most girls (and Ben) a taste for sculling, either in quads, doubles and some singles. Please have a look in the Gallery to see for yourself all the goings-on.

The squad are extremely grateful to our coaches, Steve and David, who gave up four days away from work and families. They'd also like to thank Captain Mike for being a general star and giving coaching advice from the launch / coxing seat / bow seat (he's very adaptable). As ever, thank you to our coxes - Ben, Andy, Julian (especially for coming down from the North) and Jess F - and to Meri R for taking such great photos.
