Beginner courses
Why not have a go!
We run structured beginner programmes at Furnivall for people who have had no previous experience of rowing or sculling. You may not even know what the difference is between the two disciplines and that’s ok because we’ll explain.
These programmes run at set times in the year. Our only requirement is that you can swim 50m and have a basic level of fitness. We start everyone at the same time so you develop your skills with a similar group of people and progress into the main squads together. Some of our rowers who started with us as beginners last year have gone on to win at local and national regattas and even competed at Henley this year! So who knows, next year that could be you?
We will teach you all the terminology and help you to understand technique on land before you go out in a boat. We will also take you to a purpose built indoor rowing tank where you can practice rowing together. You will go out in the water with experienced coxes and crews.
If you are interested in learning how to row or scull or would like information regarding enrolment and cost of our ‘Learn to Row’ courses please contact us. We will hold your contact details and get in touch with you about upcoming courses.
