The men's squad
Men's squad captain: Dan Jenkins
Men's squad coach: Andy Lincoln
The Furnivall Men’s Squad is comprised of a sociable & energetic bunch of men. The current squad includes an Intermediate crew and a Novice crew; both crews train and compete together in sweep and sculling disciplines. We gather on Thursday night, Saturday and Wednesday mornings for squad outings and on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings for land based training. Land training (ergs, circuits etc.) is based on a monthly training plan and whilst the club is always available for use, squad members can complete this training at a time/place that suits them.
We are a competitive squad at heart, though we welcome rowers who are keen to be part of a squad environment but can’t commit to racing. We race crews at the key Head races during the season, including The Pairs Head of the River, Head of the River fours and Head of the River Race and compete at regattas both on The Tideway (e.g. Chiswick, Hammersmith) and further afield (e.g. British Masters, Henley Town, Marlow, Peterborough). Recent successes and victories have come at Richmond Regatta, British Masters, Chiswick Regatta, Peterborough Regatta and Oxford City Royal Regatta.
We pride ourselves on being one of the most sociable and welcoming bunch of rowers on The Tideway and, whilst ensuring it doesn’t compromise success, will often gather for a drink, BBQ or post outing breakfast.
We welcome new members of all levels and encourage you to join us for a few outings and to get to know us before committing to membership.
