Club Facilities

The Club house & Boat House

The club is on Lower Mall, the footpath on the north bank of the Thames west (upstream) of Hammersmith Bridge. It is a great location with beautiful views of the river and Hammersmith Bridge and we are just a few minutes walk away from the Tube. We have our own boathouse with racks for club and private boats and our own pontoon for easy launching and retrieving of boats. Our facilities include a fleet of boats that covers all variants, a large club room with a licensed bar and a kitchen, an erg room, a weights room and changing facilities with hot showers.

Our Boats

The club owns a wide selection of boats for members to use and to suit everyone from beginners to more experienced oarsmen and women. For scullers we have singles, doubles and quads, and for rowers we have pairs, fours and eights. Each boat is designed for a specific weight of crew and our boats are graded to determine their use. A one star grading is a boat available for unrestricted use by all members, two star boats are restricted to regional regatta use and three star boats are restricted to use by experienced members competing at top level regattas. The boat list showing the boats in service, their design weight and their grading is kept in the boathouse on the wall above the signing-out log.

Private Racking

Private racking for boats (mainly sculls) is available through a waiting list system. To enquire about racking facilities, please contact the membership secretary listed on the Who's Who page.

Club Room & Venue Hire

The Furnivall club room is a great place to relax. Located on the first floor above the boathouse, it has a south-facing balcony with magnificent views of the Thames and Hammersmith bridge.

The room is very spacious, holding around 60 people standing and 30 seated informally. It includes a comfy sofa area, a large table for dinners and meetings, plenty of floor space, a fully licensed bar and a kitchen. It is available for hire for parties and functions, by members and non-members alike. See venue hire for more information.

Gym Facilities & Pilates

We have a large, light and airy erg room (pictured, right) with eight Concept IIs, a RowPerfect and an Oartec rowing simulator. We also have a weights room with a large range of free weights, Olympic bars, core-training equipment, stretching mats and a spinning bike.

We also hold a weekly pilates class in the club room which is specifically tailored for rowers. The instructor, Pip, is a fully qualified pilates instructor. Each session costs only £7 and there is no need to commit to a full season; just pay-as-you-go. To find out more or to book yourself in for a session, please email Nik.
